Machines and software - What works with what?.If anyone has any good news to share, I'm definitely listening! So.bottom line. It's worth taking the chance, because if and when you get it to work, it's absolutely so going to awesome. They are the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. Also, I've read a lot of reviews, including some on Amazon that indicated that you couldn't reach the Customer Service at SCAL. I've read from one end of the internet to the other and I know SCAL works for many people so I refuse to give up. NOW it appears to not want to work for a different reason. However, in doing so my firmware appeared to update 'too much'.to Version 1.45. Some said to update my firmware, which I did. Be prepared to begin your next odyssey because appears to work for some and not for others. Look on Amazon, that's where you'll find it.

As we're all aware, the newer versions of SCAL won't work on the Cricuts (thanks, Cricut!) However, if you can find a copy of the older versions of SCAL (preferably V.2, you'll be in luck. I'm reading that there are those of us (myself included) who have older Cricuts and would like to use SCAL. (Only one can be open at a time or the Expression doesn't know which program to cut from).Īs far as I'm aware the only Cricut that can't be updated to the latest cricut firmware version and still be compatible with SCAL2 is the Cricut Create. The 2nd & 3rd files are cartridge updates. The files at are the most recent and final Design Studio program and cartridge update files. There have been no more Firmware updates since that one and there will not be any further updates. That is the most recent and final> firmware version.

Just to make sure I dragged my Expression and my old laptop out of the cupboard and dusted them off.
